Design studio Preussisch Portugal

Our name is Preussisch Portugal, which literally translates to Prussian Portugal. In fact, our company’s name is about bringing apparent opposites into line: creativity and feasibility, innovation and discipline, being emotional and down to earth at the same time. The minds behind the design studio are its two owners, Martim Barrento and Christine Rathjen.

Martim Barrento is an interior designer, Portuguese by birth – and a real Prussian at heart. With him, nothing is left to chance. Christine Rathjen is a product designer, North German by birth (historically Prussian territory) – with an appreciation for the beautiful things in life.

Our team consists of product designers, interior designers and communication designers. Together we can provide a comprehensive service for creating branded spaces. But our field of expertise doesn’t stop at design – all of us have a passion for cooking and good food.

It’s no coincidence that our design studio lies in the heart of Hamburg’s Schanzenviertel district. Things are never boring here – from the latest (food) trends to chaotic demonstrations at the G20 summit, there’s always a hotspot for action. In a quiet courtyard we have found the perfect place to work creatively and absolutely focused at the same time.
